Japanese Garden
As much as I'd like to lay claim to the incredible work done on this garden, in fact our client Tony Gianelli (831-239-2420) a Certified Horticulturist created this masterpiece.
It is such a soul soothing place, I am pleased to be able to show his work on our website.
Tony studied for 4 years under Instructor Dennis Makashima (first to introduce Aesthetic pruning to the United States) and has a Bachelors Degree in Horticulture. The Garden below was created over many years. Bonsai trees are sometimes cared for over several generations of gardeners (30 to 80 years). In fact, some trees collected in the nature are several hundred years old.
Tony provides many services to his clients including, Japanese style garden design and building, "Aesthetic pruning" of garden trees and shrubs, Bonsai care, private instruction, tree design and care, tree sitting, and even Bonsai procurement.
What is Aesthetic Pruning?
Aesthetic Pruning is the art of revealing the essence of the natural beauty of a tree. The pruner helps the tree to reveal itself and enhance its character. This journey is based on horticultural knowledge.
There are many different ways to prune aesthetically.
Pruning can be done:
* Based on the overall context of the garden, house and space. If there is a tree, there must be a garden. If there is a garden, there must be a house. If there is a house, there must be space. Perhaps there are also neighbors, a large building, or other adjacent scenery to be considered.
* Based on the location of a tree, the sun, shade, soil type, and age of a tree.
* Based on the role of a tree in a garden, e.g. as a focal point, a backdrop, or between them as a transition.
* Based on what a client desires, e.g. some may favor the thickness of a tree or some other aspect of a tree that they like.
